Accelerating Quantum-Enabled Technologies (AQET) Autumn 2022 Update

AQET Update Autumn 2022

The NSF-funded research traineeship, AQET, welcomed its second cohort of trainees in Autumn 2022. The two cohorts of students consist of 60 graduate students across five departments on campus, and being over 35% women.

AQET has also kickstarted the launch of several new QISE-related courses on campus.

  • EE 500Q, the graduate student QISE Seminar, launched in Winter 2021, and brings 10 speakers from industry, academia, and national labs to discuss their research and career trajectories in QISE.
  • CHEM 561, Introduction to Quantum Information Science and Engineering for Chemists and Materials Scientists, launched in Autumn 2022, and serves as one of the three introductory courses available to AQET trainees.
  • PHYS 576 / ECE 539C, Implementations in Quantum Information, launches in Winter 2022. The pilot course occurred in Spring 2022, and introduces students to cloud quantum computing in partnership with Microsoft Azure Quantum and IonQ.
  • In Spring 2023, EE 522, the Quantum Information Practicum, will serve as a capstone course for AQET trainees and students taking the QISE Certificate. Capstone projects are currently being solicited from industry, academic, and national laboratory partners.
