Title: Distributed Quantum Computing with Trapped Ions
Abstract: Quantum computers will be able to solve problems which are intractable on classical computers. Trapped ions are a promising modality for qubits, due to their natural long coherence times and high two qubit gate fidelities. As these systems scale, the need to interconnect multiple systems arises, to continue to increase computational power, as well as to transfer information between different modalities of quantum processors and sensors. I will motivate the need for Distributed Quantum Computing (DQC) networks, explain the underlying physics, and demonstrate how we experimentally implement this on a commercial system.
